Automotive Mechanical Engineer


Job purpose

The Corporate Field Engineering Team at Bridgestone Europe Headquarters, is contributing to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of products & services in the market by:
  • Effectively monitoring product quality and extracting useful information from markets in a timely manner;
  • Improving systems & processes;
  • Enhancing market staff’ skills & knowledge.
This information and activities are then translated & given feedback to other departments (development, quality, sales, …)
In order to reinforce our Consumer Products group taking care of tyre products for Cars, 4x4 & Commercial Vans, we are looking for a mechanical / automotive engineer with interest for automotive industry, willing to travel in EU and looking to work both in the office and in the field.

Job description

Your first year(s) will be dedicated to learn theoretical / practical knowledge and start supporting currently on-going activities as on-the-job training. Later you will be leading some projects and interact as window for Sales Companies (Sales Co).
Major challenges and responsibilities are:
Quality Improvement:
  • Analyze data from European countries to highlight major product issues;
  • Conduct market surveys to identify product issues and collect market / customer information;
  • Define / propose actions to improve market issues in both short and long term;
  • Collaborate and influence Development and Corporate Quality Assurance (QA) departments to analyze the phenomenon, cause & define product specification improvements;
  • Interact and coordinate with the Sales Companies’ Field Engineers to clarify market quality issues and to collect data.
Quality projects:
Support department main projects action plans:
  • Visit the markets to inspect & collect data;
  • Communicate with Corporate QA and/or Technical Center Europe functions in a cross- functional team environment;
  • Create systems to follow-up / analyze collected data.
System Improvement:
  • Propose Improvement for systems in order to provide more pertinent data or analysis;
  • Conduct system check ups to highlight potential errors;
  • Coordinate with IT team the development and delivery of new systems.
Enhancement of Region / Sales Co field activities:
  • Support Region / Sales Co regarding technical questions;
  • Share Best practices among Regions;
  • Enhance quality of information shared.
Profile
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering: fresh graduate or someone with a first working experience of 1-3 years maximum, preferably in the Automotive Industry
Knowledge of IT tools:
  • MS Excel – high level (no VBA needed);
  • MS Word, Powerpoint – user level;
  • MS Access is a wish;
  • LabView is a plus;
  • A strong team player with strong analytical skills;
  • Practically minded and behaving: not afraid to go out in the field and make your hands dirty;
  • Interest (Passion) for automotive world and mechanic;
  • Fluent in English , any other European language is an added value;
  • Prepared to travel within Europe (up to 25 %, mainly short trips of 1 to 3 days);
  • International experience is a strong asset (student, project, internship, thesis);
  • You are in the possession of a driving license or can make sure you get one before start working.
